Canberra Sketchers

Yesterday a cluster of 7 people decided 5 degrees was far too cold to draw outside so we headed inside the Nishi building. It is actually a hotel that is eco-cool. Everything at Hotel, Hotel in New Acton screams modern hip design.

sketching and coffeeFor us as bunch of cold individuals the coffeeshop downstairs was most welcome. Not only is the architecture of the building interesting but the decor is littered with interesting objects. As you can see we all found lots of things to draw.

Wonderful way to enjoy being with friends in cosy, interesting surroundings and keeping on track with the sketching at the same time.

Poor sketchers. My heart is bleeding for you, unless you had one of those coffees for me!

Last week Ken went to Melbourne to have dinner with daughter and family as it was granddaughter’s birthday. She loves drawing etc – we have already given her my old outdoor tripod easel which she sets up beside her bed at night so she can draw right up to bedtime and first thing in the morning! For this birthday we gave her a set of aquarelles with water brushes and she wanted to open them all right there in the restaurant and start drawing. I reckon she should join your group. She is just 8, btw.
