Diana Boyer’s sketchbooks

Diana Boyers sketchbooks 2Diana Boyer kept sketchbooks recording everyday life around the farm on Bobbara Creek, in the Binalong district of southern New South Wales. The National Museum of Australia now houses some of them.

Apparently she carried pencils, ink, brushes and watercolours everywhere so she could record what she saw on the spot. Trained as a botanist in Argentina Diana Boyer’s observed the property’s changing landscape, native plants and local animals, so that her sketchbooks reveal the how climate change impacted on the environment.

Every Day Matters Drawing Challenge # 91

Every Day Matters Challenge 91This is another  EDM drawing challenge piece this time it is number #91 which is to draw an apple. I added the banana and set it on white plate.

I feel very rusty hand drawing after years of drawing on a computer.

The group has a yahoo group, a flickr group and Facebook page.Unfortunately the EDM Superblog stopped in 2010 but there are still lots of interesting stuff in the archives.

Every Day matters Challenge #26

Every Day Matters Challenge 26The goal is to draw at least 250 of the prompts of the EDM drawing challenge page. I am at the start of this but have just done prompt number #26 which is to draw a vegetable.

After drawing the tomatoes I realised it was technically a fruit! Since I am very rusty in the hand drawing department I am sticking to using a pencil. I will get adventurous  with colour soon, but for the moment I am working with the tonal range a pencil can produce.

Every Day Matters Drawing Challenge

Every Day Matters Challenge 1 The Everyday Matters drawing challenge was first run by Artist and Author Danny Gregory.

Too many years of image making using digital tools have left my hand and eye skills very rusty so I decided to embark upon the Every Day Matters Drawing challenge. I plan to draw at least 250 of the prompts which I have listed on the EDM drawing challenge page. I plan to strike through each item as I draw it. I dont plan to work the list in order, but to choose what attracts me at the moment and aim to draw as frequently as possible.

Anyway here is the first prompt off the list #1 Draw a shoe.
