Day 10 draw a medicinal plant

drawing of lemon, ginger and garlicThe AJW Sketchbook challenge run by Palma of A Creative Journey  proposes a daily prompt throughout January which is shared in the Artist Journal Workshop Facebook group This is my effort for day 10, which reads : a medicinal plant or flower.

I used watercolour paints, Faber Castell artist pitt pen, and my Lamy pen which is loaded with De Atramentis Permanent Ink in a Strathmore mixed media journal. As usual click on the image to see a larger version.

I figure lemons, garlic and ginger are all medicinal in some form or another and combined they are wonderful against colds.

Also this is what I had to hand as they are part of a marinade that I am making. You simply add soy sauce to these ingredients and marinade some chicken that has been cut into to strips. Later tonight I will toss them together in wok alongside some, onion, green runner beans, carrots, red capsicum, bok choy, and what ever else in the way of vegetables in the fridge. I will cook for a few minutes until the chicken is done then serve with some rice. It is an easy one pan meal!

Now if I am really smart I will think to draw dinner as the prompt for day 11 reads: lunch or evening meal. Ha! watch me forget and dive in and eat as I really dislike cold food …maybe a drawing of the empty plate?

We even get recipes with you lovely sketches – I use all this, too. I do candied ginger sometimes – oh I love it.

  2. Sounds and looks delicious. Anything with ginger is good news!
