I quite like it! – who says you have to use shadows. I think the richer background emphasises the stark white lines and therefore draws attention to the objects within them 🙂
Hi Barbara – Pleased you like it. I guess not using shadows is a bit more of a designers approach instead of trying to represent what is there. And you are right there are no ‘rules’ as such but in this one I was playing around with an idea not really worried about the representational aspects. It is only if you want something to look real that shadows become something to consider.
P.S. Like the way you have let part of the earring fitting invade the whitespace
