Three jugs

drawing of JugsI have a simple image today of three jugs which are drawn as a prompt for the  facebook  A sketch a Day challenge which for day 23 proposes that the group draws a jug. I was a bit pushed for time yesterday so this was a bit of rush.

This sketch was done in a Strathmore mixed media sketchbook which is 5.5 in x 8.5 in (14 x 21.6 cm) using artist pitt pens, Derwent watercolour pencils and watercolour paint.

Just found your site. How encouraging your efforts are to me. I have NO training but am trying to teach myself to draw and use watercolors. Just looking at your daily sketches prompts me to carry my sketche book around and actually use it!!! Thank you so much.

Brenda You made my day with your comment. That is just fantastic I love hearing someone say that – start with simple things and simple shapes and just build from there over time.

I’m really enjoying your daily sketching.

  3. I read your emails daily and marvel at your great sketching/paintings. I have never worked with pitt pens, could you tell me something about them? Are they like Sakura micron pens, do they come in different size points? Pat

Hi Patricia I am pleased you are enjoying the sketches as I am convinced people will be getting bored with them by now. To answer your question yes they are like Micron pens that come in different sizes and have waterproof ink in them – it means you can draw something and add watercolour on top and not have them run.

Yet again, I think you are right about the split page making things difficult. Perhaps a larger sketch book will make the difference. I think I would have problems with the split page too – you can’t really draw and/or paint into it easily. The jugs are great, especially the two together (of course I would say that, lol).

Hi Chris yes I am going to use a larger sketchbook when this one is finished- I like the fact that this is easily carried etc but it is not good if I just feel annoyed at it all the time- usually I journal on one side and draw on the other – might go back to that…

  5. Lovely shapes/lines. How many more page shave you got to go?
