I have discovered I forgot to share this! Everyday Matters drawing challenge number #44 reads Draw an animal – a pet, a zoo animal, or a stuffed one and this is it! I did it the day we went for fish and chips. I started it while there and managed to get most of it done but completed it working from a photo when home as the bird wandered off!
I used watercolours, watercolour pencils, and pitt pens. Click on the image for a larger view.
After my last post moaning and groaning about battling time to try and establish a routine of drawing. I will keep this post simple and I will get off the computer and go do some more!
I am still trying to carve out time from a busy day to draw. This is EDM drawing challenge #116 Draw something green. This twig is from one of the many types of eucalyptus that are in the district. I am always fascinated by Aussie native flora as usually you can see the complimentary colour in them too. Click on the image above to see a larger photo.
I used coloured pencil, graphitint pencil, watercolour pencil and pitt pens.
The EDM list is good if you get stumped for ideas of what to draw. The prompt list also helps get past the impression that every drawing must be deep and meaningful to be worth doing. Such a list effectively says it is OK to draw in order to practice observation.
Thing is … as much as I hate to admit it, I wont gain much by drawing once a week as drawing practice needs to be done a little more frequently at least every second day or so for it to be really effective. Drawing is like anything the you put in the more you get out of it. Now I just have to learn to take my own advice!
Grr … that regularity has not been happening. My excuse is that it is spring and I have been weeding!
